Morris M. "Mose" Jarpe, 81, of Moline, died April 1, 2009 at Heartland Healthcare Center, Moline.
Funeral services will be 9:30 a.m. Saturday, April 4, 2009 at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. 6601-38th Ave., Moline. Visitation will be Friday from 4-7 p.m. with a Masonic Service at 7 p.m. conducted by Moline Scottish Rite 1014 AF & AM at the funeral home. Entombment will be at Moline Memorial Park with military honors conducted by Moline American Legion Post #246. Memorials may be made to Shriner's Children's Hospital and Arrowhead Ranch.
Mose was born July 19, 1927 in Moline to Martin and Florence (Bloomberg) Engwall. He was raised by John and Minnie (Bloomberg) Jarpe. He married Jolene A. Roeschman on October 22, 1955 in East Moline, IL.
Mose was a US Army veteran stationed in Japan from 1946-1947 and 1951-1953. He was a weapons specialist employed for 36 years at the Rock Island Arsenal and Army Weapons Command. He retired in January of 1983.
Mose was a member of Moline American Legion Post #246, Moline Vikings Club Thor Lodge #9, Moline Scottish Rite 1014 AF &AM, Moline Consistory, Tebala Shrine Temple and Blackhawk Shrine Club. He was a former member of Moline Elks Club #556.
He enjoyed snowmobiling, prairie dog hunting with the boys and repairing clocks. He was known as "Mr. Fix It" to his family and friends. He also enjoyed growing and sharing tomatoes with family and friends.
