Nellie J. Maere, 72, of Moline, IL, died Thursday, January 28, 2016, at Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline, IL.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, February 2, 2016, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 412 10th Street, Moline, IL. There will be a joint Rosary by the Altar & Rosary Society and the National Catholic Society of Foresters at 4 p.m. followed by a visitation until 7 p.m. Monday, February 1, 2016, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to her family.

Nellie was born on May 16, 1943, the daughter of Bertrand and Marie Ginneberge DeRocker. She married James Maere on May 18, 1963, in Moline, and he preceded her in death on February 26, 2007. She sold Avon and worked as the custodian for both Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Seton.

Nellie was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Moline and a member of and former officer of the Altar and Rosary Society. She was a team member of St. Mary's RCIA. She was a Eucharistic Minister and performed Pastoral Care. She was also a member of the Resurrection Choir and Sacristans. She cleaned and washed all altar linen. She was a member and officer of the National Catholic Society of Forester Court 956. She was in the Avon Collector's Club, QC Stamp Club, and a Girl Scout leader. She enjoyed playing Rolle Bolle, traveling, Bingo, collecting stamps. More than anything, she loved to help others and spend time with others.

Survivors include her daughters, Laura Coyle, Moline, IL, and Lisa (Dan) Forgie, Jr., Rock Island, IL; 5 grandchildren, Sean Coyle, FL, James Coyle, Moline, IL, Teagan (Manuel) Camacho, HI, Nicholas Forgie, Rock Island, IL, Johanna Forgie, Rock Island, IL; many nieces and nephews; many people she called her friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Rachel Walston; brother, Albert DeRocker.
