Norma Lea Schulz

Norma Lea Schulz, 90, of Rock Island, IL, formerly of St. Louis, MO, died Tuesday, November 24, 2015, at home.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 28, 2015, at Union Congregational United Church of Christ, 1811 53rd Street, Moline, IL. Visitation will be from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Inurnment will be at St. Lucas Cemetery in St. Louis, MO, at a later date. Memorials may be made to Intouch Adult Day Services or to Union Congregational United Church of Christ. Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline, is assisting the family with arrangements.

Norma was born on April 5, 1925, in St. Louis, MO, the daughter of George Clarence and Stella Lavonna York Logan. She married Melvin Floyd Adams in September of 1942, in St. Louis, MO, and he preceded her in death in 1946. She later married Alvin Schulz in August of 1950, in St. Louis, and he preceded her in death in January of 2000.

During WWII, Norma was truly a "Rosie the Riveter" as she worked on the tail sections of airplanes. She went on to work for Knapp Monarch and then for General Electric. Later, she worked as a waitress in the executive dining room at Chrysler in Fenton.

In her younger years, Norma enjoyed sewing and shopping. She was an avid Cardinals fan and had a great sense of humor. She collected hats and enjoyed playing Skip-Bo and listening to audio books.

Survivors include her daughters, Penny Adams, St. Louis, MO, and Kathy (Randy) Heckman, Rock Island, IL; grandsons, Matthew and Ryan Heckman; sister, Katherine Tate, Rockford, IL; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and 11 siblings.
