Jerome was born on December 28, 1954, in Ft. Dodge, IA. He graduated from Davenport Central High School in 1973. Jerome married Cynthia Pettie in 1984. He later graduated from Black Hawk College & Western Illinois University. Jerome was a veteran of the US Army National Guard-IL, retiring after 20 years.

Jerome proudly served as Pastor at Anchored in the Lord Ministries Church since founding it in 2012.

He was an active board member of the Community Caring Conference of Rock Island & the NAACP Religious Affairs Committee. He held many other community organization positions-including being previously employed as a Conflict Resolution Mediator, Gang Prevention Specialist & GED instructor at the R-I County Jail.

Jerome gave his life to God in 1984. He loved God, pastoring & serving in Ministry. He was very proud of his AITLM church family. He was a praising, worshiping, singing Pastor. He enjoyed using visuals, graphics & catchy titles in his sermons, especially tag-team preaching with his wife Evangelist Cynthia Green.

Jerome had a love for spoiling & cooking for his wife of nearly 40 years. Often times, to tease everyone, he would post pictures online of meals that he cooked for her & at family gatherings! Jerome was a devoted husband & father to his daughter, Latesha-his mini me & his son Barry-his food buddy.

Jerome was an avid collector of Coins, Tabasco 'hot sauces' & Bears. He liked to reminisce about stories from 'back in the day'. He was always requested to make 'stovetop' popcorn, while playing games with family & friends at his home. Jerome was often called "Good Time Charlie" by his family.

Jerome appreciated the outdoors; sports, gardening, fishing & grilling. He also treasured spending time with his family-especially his grandchildren-where he was affectionately known as 'Gpa'. Therefore coining the phrase "Gpa fix it" between them. He cherished dressing as Santa every year with his beloved Elf Granddaughter Tasia.

Pastor Green held all positions within the church from Usher to Pastor. He served in a variety of church ministries; including the Church of God In Christ, World Harvest Ministerial Alliance & Non-Denominational ministrations. He conducted trainings, workshops, revivals, marriage retreats, pre-marital counseling & numerous deliverance sessions.

As a pillar in the community, Elder Green's involvement in outreach included: feeding the homeless, Holiday community dinners, Thanksgiving Baskets & Back-to-School Supply giveaways-to name a few. He created ‘Kids Korner’ at his church, where he tutored & mentored students from Rock Island Academy.

Left to honor his memory, is his wife, Cynthia; son, Barry Phillips; daughter, Latesha (Jason) Huffman; grandchildren, Latasia, London, Jaden, Jordan, Jaxon, Raven, Wanya, Elijah, Hayden & TJ; sisters, Rebecca Hardy, Lenora Salley, JoLene Swaine; honorary sister, Sandra Bullock & honorary brother, Kenneth Pinckney. He leaves behind a legacy to family, friends & ministerial colleagues.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Josephine Greene; brothers, Randy Culps, Herman Culps & Steven Culps.

Memories may be shared on the tribute wall.
