Pauline Strenglis Bagatelas, 82, of East Moline, IL, passed away peacefully with her family at her side, Monday, April 20, 2015, at UnityPoint Health - Trinity Bettendorf, Bettendorf, IA.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 25, 2015, at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 2930 31st Avenue, Rock Island, IL. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. with a Trisagion service at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, April 24, 2015, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline, IL. Burial will be at Moline Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Rock Island, Assumption Greek Orthodox Church in East Moline, or to the Quad City Symphony Orchestra.
Pauline was born January 18, 1933, daughter of Harry and Helen Koumandaros Strenglis in St. Paul, Minnesota. She graduated from Murray High School in St. Paul in 1950, and the University of Minnesota in 1954 with a Bachelor's of Science degree, where she became a loyal life long member of the Chi Omega sorority.
She was previously married in 1957 to Theodore Bagatelas of East Moline.
She served as a member of the Junior Board of the Quad City Symphony Orchestra, and the Franciscan Mental Health Center Board of Rock Island. She was a former real estate agent and interior designer. She was co-owner of Gulliver's Travel agencies in four states. She was an active member for over 50 years and a participant in the development of St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Rock Island, where she served on the board of the Philoptohos Society.
Pauline enjoyed traveling and visited many special places worldwide, especially to see her three sons. She loved playing the piano with her grandchildren and also enjoyed playing cards, especially Bridge, with her many friends. She was an avid reader and was known for her love, talent, and passion for landscaping. Pauline's first priority was always her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her sister, Kathryn, of St. Paul, her sons, William, of East Moline, Todd (Cynthia) of Memphis, TN, and Paul (Christine) of Dubai. Pauline was especially proud of her five grandchildren: Olivia in Atlanta, Pauline in Providence, Elena in Knoxville, and Nicolas and Emilie in Dubai, and her beloved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Harry, mother, Helen, sister, Maria, brother, Nicholas, and nephew, Steve.
