Ralph Leo Boney

Ralph Leo Boney, 87, of Orion, passed away on October 27, 2026, in his sleep at his home.

A graveside service will be held for friends and family at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, at Western Township Cemetery, Orion, with Pastor Mike Lawyer officiating. A luncheon will follow. Esterdahl Mortuary and Crematory, Ltd., Orion are assisting the family with arrangements.

Ralph was born on October 1, 1939, in Moline, the son of Leo M. and Florence E. (Leuth) Boney. He graduated in 1958 from Orion High School. He married Sally Froehlich on May 10, 1976, in Orion, IL Ralph began his career with John Deere in 1958, retiring in 1986, as a General Supervisor from the Foundry after 28 years of service. He also owned and operated Boney Construction for many years, building homes throughout the Quad Cities area, many of which still stand today. Orion Mason – Sherman Lodge 1976.

Ralph was an avid golfer with a hole-in-one to his name at Pinnacle, a devoted fan of Fighting Illini and Orion Chargers basketball, and a patient hand at a thousand-piece puzzle. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and teasing the people he loved most; if Ralph teased you, you were in. Above all, Ralph loved being with his family.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Sally; son, Mike Boney, Santa Clarita, California; daughter, Dawn Boney, New York, New York; sister, Janet; and many nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Velda Veith and Lea Hock; his brother, Richard "Rich" Boney.
