Ralph W. Liddell, 76, of Moline, IL, died Wednesday, June 04, 2014, at Genesis Medical Center - Silvis, Silvis, IL.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 8, 2014, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline. Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Per his wishes cremation rites have been accorded. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or to Rock Island County Animal Care and Control.
Ralph was born on April 10, 1938, in Oakland, IA, the son of Virgil N. and Georgia (Hatfield) Liddell. He married Darleen West on January 25, 1959, in Red Oak, IA. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. Ralph worked as an electronics technician for project engineering at John Deere Harvester Works for 46 years, retiring in 2005.
Ralph enjoyed woodworking, photography, and travel. He also enjoyed St. Louis Cardinal's baseball, cheering for NASCAR's Jimmy Johnson, and University of Nebraska football. Ralph coached Little League, American Legion baseball, and youth football. He loved his dogs, his beloved friends. More than anything, Ralph loved time spent with his family, especially his grandkids.
Survivors include his loving wife, Darleen; son, Scott Liddell of Denver, CO, and children, Sara Liddell and Sam Liddell; son, Pat (Karen) Liddell of Rockford, IL, and children, John Liddell and Alex Liddell; brother, Lonnie (Joan) Liddell of North Liberty, IA.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers.
