Ray was born on November 14, 1933, in Campbellsville, KY, the son of Robert L. and Eva Esther Pierce Spratt. He was a United States Army veteran. Ray retired from International Harvester Farmall Works after 35 years of service. Red truly ran through Ray's veins. He married his sweetheart, Nancy Orth, on July 13, 1975, in Elgin, IA. Together they led a life full of touching moments - most all laced with great humor. Ray loved all his time with his children and grandchildren. He was a gentleman to the truest extent of the word and would be the first to help anyone in need. There wasn't a project he wouldn't tackle nor a request he couldn't fulfill. To describe Ray as quick-witted, well that is just a tragic understatement.
Ray's passing leaves those of us behind to deal with a terrific void... But if any comfort can be found in his departure from this world, we can be certain he's relieved he's not having to deal with the remainder of the term of our current president.
