Raymond Gene Saelens

Raymond G. Saelens, 92, of Moline, passed away Thursday, July 21, 2022, at his home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10am on Thursday, July 28, 2022, at St Mary’s Catholic Church, 412 10th St, Moline, IL 61265.  Visitation will be from 4pm to 6pm on Wednesday, July 27, 2022, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd, 6601 38th Ave, Moline, IL 61265. A Rosary will follow the visitation at 6pm. Burial will be at Rock Island National Cemetery where military honors will be performed.  Memorials may be made to St Mary’s Food Pantry, where he worked for 18 years.

Raymond was born on February 4, 1930, in Silvis, the son of Rene and Eliza (DeKoker) Saelens. He married Joyce Stahl on August 17, 1957, in Havanah, IL. Raymond worked for the US Army as an accountant. Prior to working for the Army, he worked for John Deere. Raymond was a member of St Mary’s Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife; and children, Beth (Michael) Nickell, Mark (Jennifer) Saelens, Daniel (Deborah) Saelens, Diane (Joseph) Gardner, 10 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and son Lawrence “Larry”.
