Raymond I. Skelton, 94, of East Moline, IL, formerly of Cleveland, IL, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, August 19, 2015, at Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, August 24, 2015, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at National Cemetery at the Rock Island Arsenal, where military honors will be conducted by the Moline American Legion Post 246. Memorials may be made to Hospice Compassus.
Raymond was born on October 25, 1920, in Port Byron, IL, the son of Percy and Cora Cox Skelton. He married Dorothy Morgan on October 31, 1942, in Alberta, Canada, and she preceded him in death in November of 2008. He was self-employed as a carpenter contractor.
Raymond was a veteran, having proudly served in the United States Army Air Corps. He recently went on the Honor Flight to D.C. Raymond loved the Lord and enjoyed reading the Bible daily. He also enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, and woodworking.
Survivors include his daughters, Barbara (Ken) Richardson, Moline, IL, Ann Rae (Richard) Dennhardt, Orion, IL, and Penny (Dave) Green, Traverse City, MI; sons, Ray K. (Vickie) Skelton, East Moline, IL, Cevin (Lillian) Skelton, Loves Park, IL; 13 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Guy, Ed, Lester, Hugh, and Lyford Skelton; and sisters, Irene Swarts, Dorothy Power, and Grace Wongstrom.
