Reinhold Kirschenmann, 89, of Rock Island, IL, died Monday, August 18, 2014, at Silver Cross at Friendship Manor, Rock Island, IL.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, August 22, 2014, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline. Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at National Cemetery at Rock Island Arsenal. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to Christian Friendliness Youth Hope.
Reinhold was born on March 1, 1925, in Hosmer, SD, the son of August and Henrietta Hieb Kirschenmann. He married Ione Pautsch in Aberdeen, SD, in 1947, and she preceded him in death in 1984. He later married Margaret Brashar on March 7, 1987, in Rock Island. Reinhold was a United States Coast Guard Veteran, having served during WWII.
In 1963, Reinhold moved to the Quad Cities area. He co-owned and operated Moody Optical Co. for 37 years, retiring in 1987. He had an extensive eye glass collection and donated it to the American Optometric Association in St. Louis. Reinhold was an active member of Assembly of God in South Dakota, later attending Moline Gospel Temple, and most recently, First Evangelical Free Church in Moline.

He was preceded in death by his son, Roger; brothers, Arthur and Emil; infant daughter, Carol Ann.
