Rev. Charles “Chuck” Kurth, 82, of Moline, passed away Wednesday, November 2, 2022, at River Crossing of Moline.
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, November 18, 2022, in the Chapel of Virtue at River City Church, Moline, where he was a devoted member. The Rev. Dale Kurth will officiate. Memorials may be made to the family.
Charles was born on November 12, 1939, in Rock Island, the son of Orville Charles Edward and Bertha (Nies) Kurth. He married Marsha A. Peterson on July 30, 1966, at Salem Lutheran Church in Moline. He earned his Master’s Degree in Education from Assemblies of God Graduate School. Charles has pastored or been on pastoral staff at River City Church, Harmony Hills Baptist, and Bouquet Baptist Church, as well as administrator of several school and colleges. He was active with the Rock Island SPEBSQCA (Chapter of the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barber Shop Quartet Singing in America, Inc) and directed several quartets and choruses throughout the country, leading most to championships. He also directed the Tucson Boys Choir.
Survivors include his wife; children, Rev. Dale (Teresa) Kurth, Weaver, Iowa, Denies (Glen) Williamson, Moline, Daniel Kurth, Moline; grandchildren, Mandi Kurth, Santa Rosa, California, Royce Kurth, Burlington, Iowa, Cheyanne Kurth, Iowa City, Iowa, Brandon (Emilie) Williamson, Hampton, Illinois, Allee Williamson, Moline, Joshua Kurth, Moline; two great grandchildren, Adalyn Kurth and Elliott Williamson.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
