Rev. Dr. Paul R. Ausherman, 82, of Milan, IL, died Wednesday, May 20, 2015, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, IA.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 23, 2015, at the 15th Avenue Christian Church, 3600 15th Avenue, Rock Island. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, May 22, 2015, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline. Per his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded and burial of ashes will be at National Cemetery at the Rock Island Arsenal at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Mayo Clinic Foundation or to the Christian Theological Seminary.
Paul was born on February 27, 1933, in Terre Haute, IN, the son of Paul F. and Ruth Egbert Ausherman. He married Marilynn D. Riggleman on February 27, 1954, in North Judson, IN. Paul was a veteran, having proudly served in the United States Army. He was a minister for the Disciples of Christ.
Paul graduated from Indiana State University in Terre Haute as well as from Christian Theological Seminary in Indianapolis. He received his Doctorate of Ministry from the University of Dubuque. Paul went on to serve as head pastor in Indiana, Iowa, Missouri, Florida, and Illinois. Locally, he served at First Christian Church in Moline.
Paul was the executive director at Ridgecrest Retirement Village in Davenport for 5 years. During that time he started the television show Golden Showcase through St. Ambrose University.
Paul was an avid outdoorsman. He was a runner and competed several times in the Bix 7.
