Reverend Earl Henry Warstler, 90, of Waterloo, IA went to his eternal reward on January 11th, 2017. He was born on September 15th, 1926 to Lloyd and Cora (nee Bricker) Warstler in Navarre, Ohio.
Earl graduated from Brewster High School in Brewster, Ohio in 1944. After graduation, he served in the United States Army from 1945 until the end of WWII. For his service, he was awarded the Good Conduct Medal and Victory Medal. Following his service, he attended Central Bible College in Springfield, MO and graduated in 1950. On February 9th, 1951, he married Arleen V. Jarrett of Alton, Illinois. Together they pastored churches in Hubbard, Ohio from 1952 through 1961 where he also received his ordination in 1956. From 1962 to 1963, they pastored in Greenville, Ohio then moved to Willard, Ohio to pastor from 1963 to 1968. In 1968, they moved to East Moline, Illinois where he pastored First Assembly of God Church until 1979.
In 1979, Earl resigned the church in East Moline to care for his wife due to her extended illness. After moving to Waterloo, he first served as associate pastor to Glad Tidings Assembly of God in Cedar Falls and later served as interim and associate pastor of Celebration First Assembly of God in Waterloo until his retirement. He also worked at JC Penney for over fifteen years. Earl loved his family and he loved being a minister. Over the years, he and his wife were hosts of many missionaries and ministers and were known for their kindness and having a servant’s heart.
Earl was preceded in death by his wife, Arleen, his parents, Lloyd and Cora Warstler, brothers Albert, Bob, Howard, Nelson, Ralph and Wayne, and one sister, Ruth. He is survived by a daughter, Joy (James) Dale of Hudson, Iowa, a son Brian (Danielle) Warstler of Richardson, Texas, three grandchildren, Joshua (Sara) Dale of Waterloo, Iowa, Jeremi Dale of Hudson, Iowa, and Gabrielle Warstler of Richardson, Texas, two great-grandchildren; Corbin and Mikayla Dale, one sister, Dorothy (Larry) Brown of Richfield, Ohio and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will take place on Friday, January 13th from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at Richardson Funeral Home in Cedar Falls. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 14th at Glad Tidings Assembly of God in Cedar Falls at 2:00pm. Additional calling hours will be held at Esterdahl’s Funeral Home in Moline, Illinois on Sunday, January 15th from 2:00pm-5:00pm. Burial will take place on Monday, January 16th at Rock Island National Cemetery in Rock Island, Illinois with military honors.
