Richard Dwayne Brown

Richard Dwayne Brown, Sr., 84, of Silvis, died Sunday, August 16, 2015, at UnityPoint Health - Trinity, Rock Island Campus.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, August 20, 2015, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, August 19, 2015, at the funeral home. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens.
Richard was born on December 2, 1930, in Ottumwa, IA, the son of William and Mary E. Parks Brown. He married Beverly J. Bowles on July 5, 1952, in Moline, IL. He worked as an assembler for American Machine & Metals for 27 years, retiring in 1977. Later, he worked as a janitor for XPAC.
Richard was very handy. He repaired lawn mowers and fans and enjoyed woodworking. He loved old time country music and especially enjoyed camping in Colorado.
Survivors include his loving wife, Beverly; daughter, Mary Embrey, Rock Island, IL; sons, Richard (Cheryl) Brown, Jr., Milan, IL, and Gary (Terri) Brown, Moline, IL; 20 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; brother, Clyde (Carol) McCarty, Carbon Cliff, IL; special friend, Terri Bennett, Davenport, IA.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, William; several sisters; 2 brothers.
