Richard B. Powell

Richard B. Powell, 92, of Moline passed away on Friday, October 7, 2022 at Hope Creek Care Center in East Moline.

A funeral service will be 11:30 a.m. on Friday, October 14, 2022 at Bethany Church in Moline.  Visitation will be from 9:30 – 11:30 at the church.  Burial will be at the National Cemetery on the Rock Island Arsenal where military honors will be accorded by the Moline American Legion Post #246.  Memorials may be made to Bethany Church, or Youth Hope, Moline.

Richard was born on September 22, 1930 in Highland Park, Michigan the son of Cloyse B. and Berdella A. Doyle Powell.  He married Darleen R. Beckstrom on May 1, 1953 in Denver, Colorado and she preceded him in death on April 5, 2009.

Richard was a Korean Conflict Veteran having served in the United States Air Force.  He was an accountant with Caterpillar from 1964 until his retirement in 1985.  Richard also started the Powell Income Tax Service in 1966.  He later went on to become a Realtor with both Century 21 and South Towne.  He was a member of Bethany Church in Moline.

Survivors include his children; Donald Powell, Dori (John) McCartney and Dawn (Tim) Robinson; son-in-law, Mark Loftin; 16 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Mary Lea Powell

He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; daughter, Debbie Loftin and a brother, Joe.
