Rita Ryan, 86, of Geneseo, IL, died Thursday, March 28, 2013, at Good Samaritan Society, Geneseo, IL.
Funeral Services held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, 6601 38th Avenue, Moline, IL. There will be a Rosary Service at 9:45 a.m. with a Visitation following from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home prior to the service. Entombment will be at St. Mary's Mausoleum. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or to the Children's Therapy Center of Moline.
Rita was born on December 9, 1926, in Taylor Ridge, IL, the daughter of Clair and Winfred (Caslin) Curry. She married Orville Ryan on November, 13, 1954, at St. Joseph Church in Rock Island. He preceded her in death on July 16, 2009. Rita was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Moline. She was very involved with the Altar & Rosary Society as well as volunteering for the food pantry of the church. She worked as a lunch counter manager for SS Kressge for 12 years. From there she went on to work at Kmart as their cafeteria manager. She then worked for the Moline School System as their lunch manager. Rita was a diehard Cubs fan. She enjoyed camping, embroidering, and crocheting. Above all, she loved spending time with her family.
