Robert Edwin Bennett, 65, of Geneseo, IL, died Thursday, December 13, 2012, at his home.
Memorial Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, December 17, 2012, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, December 16, 2012, at the funeral home. Per his wishes cremation rites have been accorded and will be buried on the airstrip at the Bennett Family Farm, Sheffield, IL. Memorials may be made to River Bend Food Bank or to Friends of People of Haiti.
Robert was born on June 17, 1947, in Peoria, IL, the son of Edwin and Kathleen (Sullivan) Bennett. He married Maureen Coleman on September 29, 1972, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Moline. Robert graduated from Western High School in Buda, IL, and later from Parks College of Aeronautics at St. Louis University. For two years he worked as Military Police in the United States Army and then as an Aeronautical Engineer for Cessna Aircraft in Wichita, KS. Beginning in 1978, he worked in Agricultural Design for John Deere for 34 years. For 45 years he loved flying and working as an Aviation Mechanic. Robert was a much beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
