Robert "Bud" L. Firth, 83, of Silvis, IL, died Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home, Peoria, IL.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 29, 2014, at Colona United Methodist Church, 1709 Cleveland Road, Colona. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 28, 2014, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline, IL. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to Colona United Methodist Church or to the Alzheimer's Association.
Robert was born on June 23, 1930, in White Hall, IL, the son of Russell Lynn and Mildred (Alderson) Firth. He married Joyce DeVrieze on January 6, 1951, in Rock Island, IL.
Robert worked for 35 years for John Deere retiring in 1983 as the parts promotion manager. During that time he also worked for Highland Park Bowl. Following his retirement, Robert worked for the Henry County Bank as well as Best Upholstery.
Robert was a member of Colona U.M.C. and worked there as the financial secretary for several years. He was the former president for the Colona Lions Club, a city council alderman for Colona, and the police and fire commissioner as well.
Bud was a father and grandfather extraordinaire. His love and devotion to his family was displayed as he never missed an event for any of his children and grandchildren. He was an avid UT, Cubs, and Illini fan. He enjoyed watching races and collecting model cars.
After retirement from Deere he became a quality woodworker, building everything from toys to furniture to homes. He and his wife also found time to travel extensively throughout the U.S.
Bud always had a smile and a wink for everyone and made a friend everywhere he went.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Jeffery David Firth; and his great grandson, Brayden Robert Slayton.
