Robert "Smoky" G. Hansemann, 84, of Hampton, IL, died Friday, January, 2, 2015, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, IA.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, January 7, 2015, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, January 6, 2015, at the funeral home. Burial will be at Hampton Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to a charity of your choice.
Smoky was born on March 20, 1930, in Detroit, MI, the son of Gustav O. and Frieda A. Neischultz Hansemann. He married Lee R. Armstrong on June 19, 1976, in Canada. He was a veteran, having proudly served the United States Marine Corps. from August 27, 1951 to August 26, 1953.
Smoky worked as an engineering manager for McLaughlin Body in Moline, retiring on October 29, 1995. He previously worked for Chrysler Motor Co. He was a member of the V.F.W. in Hastings, NE and enjoyed gardening and the outdoors. Smoky was a big family man with a great sense of humor.
