Robert E. Lenning

Robert E. Lenning, 87, formerly of Orion, passed away on April 4, 2026, at Celebrate of Moline.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday April 15, 2026, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 1301 4th Street, Orion. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will be at Western Township Cemetery.

Robert was born on May 25, 1938, in Humboldt, Iowa, the son of Helmer and Elizabeth (Schnell) Lenning. He married Madeleine J. Whitfield on October 31, 1959, at the First Congregational Church in Moline. She preceded him in death on March 29, 2012. He had been employed as a tool & die maker with Reynolds Engineering and The International Harvester for over 44 years, retiring in 2000. He was a big sports fan, especially football and baseball, but loved to spend his free time fishing and bowling. He was also an avid NASCAR fan.

Survivors include his children, Deborah (Mark) Darwin of Silvis, Brian (Debra) Lenning of Rock Island, Curt (Tammi) Lenning of Thonotosassa, FL; 6 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; 3 step grandchildren, 7 step great grandchildren; step brothers, Chris Lenning and Pat Lenning both of Iowa; half-brother, Kenneth Berg of Chicago.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and son, Todd E. Lenning.
