Robert W. Morris, 93, of Moline, IL, died Sunday, December 13, 2015, at Florida Hospital Waterman, Tavares, FL.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, December 21, 2015, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, December 20, 2015, at the funeral home. Burial will be at Moline Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Lutheran Church in Moline.
Robert was born on February 10, 1922, in Moline, IL, the son of William S. and Ebba L. Swanson Morris. He married Betty G. Griffin on January 10, 1948, in Moline, and she preceded him in death in March of 2004.
Robert proudly served during WWII and the Korean War in the United States Navy. He later worked for IBM as a field engineer, retiring in 1978. After retirement, he worked several years as a union electrician. Robert was a member of the American Legion Post 246 and a life member of the Masonic Lodge. He was a member of First Lutheran Church in Moline. In his younger years, he enjoyed sailing, boating, camping, and traveling with his family. Later, he and his wife, Betty, traveled and camped throughout the country. More than anything, he especially enjoyed watching his grandchildren grow.
Survivors include his children, Sheryl Jefferson, Mission, TX, Teresa Connolly, Orlando, FL, Thomas Morris, Moline, IL, and William (Sandie) Morris, Moline, IL; brother, Duane L. Morris, Hawthorne, CA; grandchildren, Daniel, Kristina, and Samantha Connolly, and Robert and Margaret Morris; many nieces and nephews and great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brother, Roland Morris, NJ; sisters, Joyce Winters Brown, Tulsa, OK, and Delores Meyers, Rock Island, IL; grandson, Richard Fisher; nephews, Steve Morris and Paul Barnard.
