Robert G. Papoccia

Robert G. Papoccia, 83, of Silvis, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Father’s Day, Sunday June 18, 2023, at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday June 21, 2023, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline.  Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, June 20, 2023, at the funeral home.  The burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline.  Memorials may be made to the family for a fund to be established at a later date.

Robert was born on January 25, 1940, in Sterling, Illinois, the son of Ferdinand and Josephine (Tominello) Papoccia. Bob was a U.S. Veteran, having served in the Army from 1962-1965. He married Linda Griffin on October 29, 1966, in Port Byron. Bob worked at Case IH East Moline Works and was a member of UAW 1304, retiring in 1993. He later owned and operated B-Plus Plumbing, retiring in 2018. Bob enjoyed bowling in many different leagues throughout his life. He was an avid Bears and Cubs fan, happily enjoying the 2016 World Series. He loved many nights of playing cards with friends and nightly with Linda. He loved jigsaw puzzles and would often allow his grandchildren, Griffin and Ella to help, but not many others. He was a member of Augustana Lutheran Church where he enjoyed helping in the kitchen. We are thankful for his many doctors as well as the caring staff of Unity Point Hospice for their thoughtful care and compassion in his final days.

Survivors include his wife, Linda of Silvis; son, Rob (Julie) Papoccia of Greencastle, Indiana; daughter, Amy of Elmhurst, Il; grandchildren, Griffin and Ella; brother, Peter (Carmen) Papoccia of Rock Falls; as well as many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ferdinand & Josephine Papoccia and in-laws, Lloyd & Ruth Griffin.
