Robert A. Tillberg, 90, of Moline, IL, died Thursday, September 7, 2017, at Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline, IL.
A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, September 11, 2017, at Salem Lutheran Church, 1724 15th Street, Moline. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, September 10, 2017, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline. Burial will be at Moline Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Salem Lutheran Church.
Robert was born on June 30, 1927, in Moline, IL, the son of A. Edwin and Marie Hjerpe Tillberg. He graduated from Moline High School Class of 1945, and attended Augustana College. He married Barbara Erickson on November 18, 1950.
Bob was in the Army with the 25th Division and served in Korea during the Korean War from 1951-1952. In 1982, he retired from John Deere Plow-Planter after 32 years. Following his retirement, he worked part-time at Ace Hardware, Moline.
Bob was a Life Member of Salem Lutheran Church, where he sang in the church choir for many years. Music was a very important part of Bob’s life. Also, he sang in several music groups. In his younger years, he served on church council. He held memberships at the American Legion Post 246, and Thor Lodge of Vikings.
Bob’s family was very important to him. He especially treasured their annual fishing trips up north and traveling throughout the country.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Tillberg; children, Steven (Carol) Tillberg, Marinette, WI, Richard Tillberg, Moline, IL, Patricia (Don) Rosene, Baraboo, WI, and James (Cathy) Tillberg, Moline, IL; 8 grandchildren, Dan (Annie) Tillberg, Moline, IL, Blake (Jessica) Tillberg, Davenport, IA, Cullen Tillberg, Wilton, IA, Greg (Danielle) Rosene, Steven’s Point, WI, Andrew (Kim) Rosene, Madison, WI, Matthew Rosene, St. Louis, MO, Nicole Tillberg, Moline, IL, and Nate Tillberg, Moline, IL; 3 great granddaughters; cousins, Marion Pope, Moline, IL and Evelyn Sebree, Tucson, AZ.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
