Robert R. Wheeler, 47, of Coal Valley, IL, passed away Friday, October 16, 2015, at UnityPoint Health - Trinity, Rock Island, IL, after a battle with pancreatic cancer.
Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 24, 2015 at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601-38th Avenue, Moline, IL. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, October 23, 2015 at the funeral home. Per his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded, and inurnment of cremains will be at Swedona Lutheran Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be made to QC Animal Welfare Center.
Bob was born on May 19, 1968, in Moline, IL, the son of Michael and Mary Brown Wheeler. Bob graduated from Moline High School in 1986 and Amtech Institute in Wichita, Kansas in 1987. He was a Millwright Journeyman for over 20 years, and worked most recently at Invenergy in Nelson, IL, as an Operations and Maintenance Technician. He was a current member of Millwright Local #2158.
We are heartbroken by Bob's passing, but grateful for our time with him, leaving us with a lifetime of laughs and wonderful memories. Bob said he got his orneriness from his Grandpa Brown. Many said, if Bob teased you, that meant he liked you. He was always willing to help a friend or family member in need, and was a fun and spoiling uncle to his nephews and nieces. Bob's knowledge of all things mechanical was remarkable.
