Robert "Bob" E Seitz

Robert “Bob” E. Seitz, 84, of Moline, passed away Tuesday, October 12, 2021, at Amber Ridge Memory Care Community, Moline.

A private family Funeral Mass will be held.  Public visitation will be from 1:00-4:00p.m. on Sunday, October 17, 2021, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Moline.  Entombment will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to Moline Booster Club or Moline Public Schools Foundation.  In accordance with restrictions, attendees are expected to wear a face mask and observe social distancing.

Bob was born on July 6, 1937, in Moline, the son of Ival and Catherine (Sheley) Seitz. He married Therese Goethals on August 13, 1960, in Rock Island. Bob graduated from St Ambrose University. He went on to get his Masters at Marycrest University. Bob’s career spanned 34 years teaching math at Riverdale High School, Coolidge Junior High School, and Moline High School. He coached football, basketball, and softball. Bob was a former member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Moline where he ushered, volunteered at the food pantry, and served as parish council president. He is a current member of Christ the King. He was awarded American Legions Teacher of the Year in 1984.  He served as trustee for South Moline Township.  Bob was also Treasurer for MEA.  Bob enjoyed golfing and had four hole-in-ones at Golfmore Golf Course.

Survivors include his wife, Therese; daughters, Julie (Joseph) Marks, Carol Stream, Laurie (Juan) de los Reyes, Moline, Tamara (Keith) Verbeke, Moline, Karie (Scott) Monroe, Moline; grandchildren, Bob Marks, Nick (Kathryn) Marks, Anthony de los Reyes, Jordan (Tim) Wages, Haley (fiancée, Trevor) Verbeke, Sam Monroe, Ben Monroe; great granddaughter, Emerson Wages; sisters, Joanne Bowman, Florida, and Sue Grchan, Moline; and brother, Tom (Sue) Seitz, Moline.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
