Rodney ""Rod"" Parrish

Rodney "Rod" Parrish, 63, of Coal Valley, IL, died Saturday, August 9, 2014, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, August 14, 2014, at Grace Lutheran Church, 1140 East High Street, Davenport, IA. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, August 13, 2014, at Kirk, Huggins & Esterdahl Funeral Home, Ltd., 1301 4th Street, Orion, IL. Burial will be at Western Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Grace Lutheran Church or to Lions of IL Foundation - Endowment Fund.
Rod was born on July 23, 1951, in Moline, IL, the son of Ralph and Loretta Samuelson Parrish. He married Kathleen Kulow on March 22, 1980, in Orion, IL. Rod worked for Deere & Co. for 41 years as a technology architect.
Rod was a big Illini fan and enjoyed volleyball and softball. He loved golf and founded and ran the RPO golf events, which began 37 years ago. He was a member of the Lion's Club and helped organize various functions including Birdies for Charities. He was a tireless volunteer at the John Deere Classic, the Orion Fall Festival, and many other community activities. He was deeply committed to his family, faith, and friends.
