Rodney D. Versluys

Rodney D. Versluys, 69, of Orion, passed away Monday April 3, 2023, at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Orion.  Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Monday April 10, at the funeral home.  Entombment will be at Moline Memorial Park Mausoleum.  Memorials may be made to his family for a fund to be established.

Rod was born on July 13, 1953, in Moline, the son of Gordon and Myrtle (Berg) Versluys. He married Janice M. Schillinger on May 6, 1972, at the First Presbyterian Church, Coal Valley. He was previously employed at the City of Rock Island for twenty-nine years, retiring in June of 2013. Rod loved many things: hunting, fishing, farming, RVing, reading his bible and playing bible trivia. He had many skills in carpentry and farming which were passed down to his loved ones.

Rod enjoyed life and lived it to the fullest, spending his time with family and friends. He was incredibly proud of his wife, kids and grandkids. Rod showed unconditional love to all. The memories he left behind will forever be cherished.

Survivors include his wife, Jan; children, Tammy (Lonnie) Frank, Tim (Teresa) Versluys, Todd (Brandi) Versluys; grandchildren, Austin (Katie), Abby (Travis), Alli (Bo), Natalie, Dylan, Kendra, Logan, Sydney; great grandchildren, Ellie, Addie; sisters, Delores (Tom) Laleman, Tina (Todd) Schmitt; brother, Bill Versluys.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Gary.
