Roger K Case

Roger Case, 74, died peacefully on, October 19, 2023, at the University of Iowa Hospital.

Family and friends are invited to don your favorite sports gear and join Missy on November 4th to swap stories of Roger over coffee, juice and sweet breads between 9:00 and 11:00 A.M. in the Activity Center at Bethel Wesley United Methodist Church, 1201 13th Street Moline, followed by a Memorial Service at 11:00 A.M. in the sanctuary. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Missy Case to help defray expenses.

Roger was born on August 26, 1949 in Galesburg, IL, the son of Doris and James Case. He graduated from Moline High School in 1967 and married Cindy Mesick Case, the love of his life. Together they had two children: Keith (Amber) Case who gave him three grandchildren, Kain, Kadence and Kyla and Melissa who resided with him, along with their dog, Journey. Sandra Bates is a very special cousin among many cousins, nieces and nephews and one brother-in-law, Denny Mesick and his wife Carolyn. George Schaeffer also played an important role in his life as a surrogate son checking on him almost daily since Keith died. Roger never knew a stranger and could hold up both sides of a conversation if necessary. He was never afraid to laugh at himself especially if it made his story better. He was a lifelong Bears and Cubs fan. Roger bowled on various teams for decades. Roger and Keith were very active in Moline Babe Ruth baseball including a stint as President of the organization. Roger was a Real Estate Agent for Century 21 for 25 years. Most recently he was a bartender at Cinemark Theater where his co-workers became like family. Roger always got a kick out of children believing that he was Santa. Roger loved the adventure of travel, particularly family trips to Walt Disney World stopping to explore landmarks along the way.

He was preceded in death by his wife Cindy and son Keith.
