Roger Lee Fischer

Roger Lee Fischer, 71, of Moline, passed away on March 7, 2026, at his home.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 2:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at Local 105 United Steel Workers (880 Devils Glen Rd. Bettendorf, IA 52722). Cremation rites have been accorded. Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline, is assisting the family.

Roger was born on April 7, 1954, in Rock Falls, IL, the son of Howard R. Fischer and Betty J. (Elhoffer) Hays. He graduated from Moline High School, class of 1972. Roger married Janis M. Carden on October 11, 1975, in Moline and together they just celebrated their 50th Anniversary. He had been employed at Arconic (formerly Alcoa) for 43 years, retiring in 2017. He loved watching the Christmas Story (for 24 hours), Peeps, Stephen King books and movies, but most of all, Roger loved being with all of his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Janis; children, Hope (Daniel) Guy of Davenport, Trish Fischer of Moline, and Dustin (Angela) Fischer of Geneseo; special nephew, Jeremy (Jennifer) Fischer of Port Orange Florida; 5 grandchildren, Jorden, Grace, Hailee, Jaxsen, Braylee, along with many more adopted in; as well as a large extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Calvin Hays and sister-in-law, Robin Carden.
