Roger David Nordstrom, 85, of Moline, IL, died Sunday, February 14, 2016, at Rosewood Care Center in Moline.
A memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 18, 2016 at First Covenant Church, 3303 41st Street, Moline. Visitation will be from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. 6601 38th Avenue, Moline. Per his wishes cremation rites have been accorded. Memorials may be made to the First Covenant Church Memorial Trust Fund.
Roger was born on April 5, 1930, in Moline, IL, the son of David & Florence Otterdahl Nordstrom. He married Janice Helen Liljegren on April 20, 1957 in Moline.
Roger graduated from Moline High School as Senior Class President in 1948. He went on to graduate from Augustana College in 1952, where he sang in the choir. Roger then served for two years in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. After returning from the service he began working for Deere Harvester Works, retiring after 30 years from the Product Engineering Department.
Roger was a lifelong member of First Covenant Church where he held many leadership roles. Showing that music was a very important part of his life he sang in the church choir for over 53 years. Roger enjoyed gardening, traveling, caring for others and above all was his devotion to God and his family.
