Ronald Sherman Farren, 75, of Davenport, IA, died Wednesday, December 4, 2013, at his home.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 10, 2013, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline, IL. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, December 9, 2013, at the funeral home. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens where military honors will be conducted by Moline American Legion Post #246. Memorials may be made to New Hope Church in Moline.

Ronald was born on September 23, 1938, in Peoria, IL, the son of Loren Coburn and Anna (Larson) Farren. He graduated from Rock Island High School. He received his Bachelor of Science and Masters of Business Administration from Century University. Mr. Farren served in the U.S. Marine Corps. and was honorably discharged. He married Bonita Jo Griffin on November 25, 1961. He worked at Strombeck's Manufacturing for 17 years. While there he was plant manager and vice president. He also worked for Thatcher Tubes in Muscatine, Iowa and Dubois Chemical in Cincinnati, Ohio where he retired from. During his work career he was very involved with the Safer Organization and many other programs.

During his life, Mr. Farren was very involved with sports as a player and coach. He played for his church and city league fast pitch teams. As a coach he was involved with youth baseball and his daughter's softball teams.

For many years he was a Deacon of his church and taught senior high boys' Sunday school classes. Mr. Farren loved music and travel. But the true love of his life was time spent with his family. His two beloved granddaughters Lorren and Anna were pure joy to him. He enjoyed time with his family more than anything else in life.

Survivors include his wife, Bonnie; daughter, Ronita; granddaughters, Lorren and Anna; sister, Carolyne (Don) Franklin; sister-in-law, Dorothy Farren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 sisters, and 3 brothers.
