Ronald "Ron" D Allen

October 18, 1934 — August 7, 2021

Ronald “Ron” D. Allen, 86, of Moline, passed away Saturday, August 7, 2021, at Clarissa C Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf.

Cremation rites will be accorded, and a memorial service will be held at 11:30 am on Saturday, August 14, 2021, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd, Moline.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.  Inurnment will be at Rose Lawn Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to Quad City Animal Welfare Center in Milan.

Ron was born on October 18, 1934, in Pontiac, Michigan, the son of Henry R. and Opal (Pierce) Allen.  He married Patricia Swales on September 13, 1978, in Las Vegas. He was a wonderful father, stepfather, grandfather, and husband, lovingly caring for Patricia until she passed on December 4, 2019.  He retired from John Deere Harvester on March 1, 1996, after 33 years.

Ron and Pat both loved to golf and belonged to several area country clubs over the years. Ron also enjoyed bowling, playing cards, and he and Pat traveled extensively. They loved their trips out west.

Survivors include his grandchildren, James Shepherd, Bettendorf, Dennis (Heather) Shepherd, Bettendorf, Joshua Swales, Waterloo, IA, Chris (Rachel) Swales, Denver, IA, Anne (Brandon) Odom, Omaha, NE, Daniel (Britny) Swales, Smithfield, VA, Jenna Moore, Winthrop Harbor, IL, Alex Moore, Crystal Lake, IL; great grandchildren, Zach, Hunter, Clayton, Austin, Grace, Gabriel, Josiah, Caitlyn, and Callahan; stepchildren, Julie (Craig) Lothson, Crystal Lake, IL, Jim (Pam) Swales, Center Point, IA; and son-in-law Ron Farr, Bettendorf.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, his daughter Kittie Farr, and his cat Nick.
