Rosemarie Bucherer Hendren was born on May 13, 1932, the oldest daughter of Gustav Adolf and Gertrud Stille Bucherer, on the home farm in Fremont Township, Butler County, IA. She was older sister to Marlene and Herbert. The family moved to Clarksville, IA, in 1937. She was baptized at St. John Evangelical & Reformed Church, rural Nashua, IA. The family moved to Moline, IL, in 1941. She was confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church, Moline. She attended Moline Schools and graduated from Moline High School in 1950. She graduated from Augustana College, Rock Island, IL, in 1954, with a bachelor's degree in Speech Pathology. She was a member of the Sigma Pi Delta sorority, (the Speeds). She taught a year in the Moline School system. Rosemarie married John B. Hendren, whom she had met at Augustana, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Moline, IL, on August 7, 1955. She taught a year at Mexico, Missouri, while John was at graduate school at the University of Missouri. John's job took them to Evansville, IN, where they lived for 8 ½ years. It was here that their two children, Gregory Blair and Nancy Jo, were born. Rosemarie became a full time mom. They moved to Columbus, OH, and were there for a year and a half. They were transferred to Oklahoma City, OK, where they lived for 10 years. Rosemarie earned a Master's Degree in Deaf Education and taught the deaf children at Monroe grade school where her daughter, Nancy, was a student.

In October 1976, the company John worked for as a geologist, Phillips Petroleum, transferred them to London, England, where they lived in a ninth floor flat from which they could see Buckingham Palace. Nancy was a senior and finished her senior high school year at the American School in London. Greg stayed behind at Baylor University in Texas. After high school graduation, Nancy joined her brother, Greg, at Baylor.

Rosemarie & John enjoyed the people they met and the places they lived. They enjoyed traveling. They took vacations to Italy, Israel, Spain, France, Denmark, Sweden, Tunisia, Germany, the Netherlands, Majorca, Greece, throughout England, Scotland & Wales. Rosemarie also visited Russia and Morocco, where she was robbed in Rabat. The Lord was with them where ever they were. They knew Psalm 139, verses 9 and 10 were true: ... "If I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast." Although they traveled extensively, they spent most weekends worshiping at the American Church in London, or at All Souls, an Evangelical Anglican church where they listened to John Stott, Michael Baughen and Richard Bewes, even Billy Graham, with packed congregations.

John accepted an early retirement in October 1985 and they returned to the Quad Cities to be with family and friends once again after having lived in London for 9 years. Back in the States, they enjoyed vacations together and with friends and family members, especially in Door County, WI, Texas (reunions & times with daughter, Nancy, and family), New York City (to visit son, Greg, and Ruth), Pehrson's Lodge on Lake Vermillion, MN, where Rosie caught and netted many fish; Estes Park, CO; Hawaii; Rio, with John's dad; Wisconsin Dells; Alaska; the Panama Canal; Branson, MO; The Billy Graham Training Center at The Cove near Ashville, NC, and several places in Florida in January through February. They also attended reunions with the expatriates from the American Church, in London, Texas, California, Connecticut, The Cove, and Alabama.

Rosemarie became a board member of Christian Friendliness. She became President of the Christian Friendliness Auxiliary. She had helped start a women's Bible Study in London, Community Bible Study (CBS) and joined Bible Study Fellowship (BSF), in the Quad Cities, and became a group leader. She and John joined the Quad Cities Cinema & Video Club and enjoyed taking travel videos, editing them, adding music and narration, and showing them at the club meetings. They also helped look after John's dad, Vernon R. Hendren, John's cousin, Linnea Odhe, Rosemarie's parents, and her uncle, Gus Stille. God's timing on returning to the States was good. They joined Bethel-Wesley United Methodist Church, the church of John's youth, and where Vernon was a member. Later, they joined Homewood Evangelical Free Church.

Survivors include her husband of 59 years, John, Moline; son, Greg (Ruth Eisenberg), New York City, NY; daughter, Nancy Jo (Randy) Heffner; grandsons, Steven (Abbey) and Daniel, area of Dallas, TX; granddaughter, Anna, area of Dallas, TX; sister, Marlene (Rev. Rosemarie will be greatly missed by all of her family and friends.

Special thanks to Rosemarie's doctors and nurses, the visiting nurses, physical therapists, palliative care nurses, the ambulance crew, and the staff in the ER and MICU at UnityPoint Health - Trinity Rock Island.

From her ICU bed, Rosemarie spoke from John 11, verses 25-26. "Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. Those who believe in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this? Yes, Lord, she told Him. I believe that You are the Christ, The Son of God, Who was to come into the world." Amen
