Rosie M. Cottrell

Rosie M. Cottrell, age 90, of Moline, passed away on Saturday, January 22, 2011 at Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline, her family at her side.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ld. 6601-38th Avenue, Moline. Visitation is from 3:00 p.m.-7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial is at National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal. Memorials may be made to Gilda's Club of the Quad Cities or the Rock Island County Humane Society.
Rosie Maxine Hample was born September 15, 1920 in Muscatine, IA to Mary and Martin Hample. The family moved to Moline when Rosie was three and she resided in the family home for 87 years. She graduated from Moline High School in 1938. During the war years, Rosie was a clerk at S.S. Kressges and a waitress at Irma's, both in Moline. In June, 1942, Rosie married the love of her life, Frank D. Cottrell. Together they shared 49 years of life. He preceded her in death on June 24, 1991. She devoted herself to her family as a loving wife, mother, and homemaker.
Rosie was a member of the Moline American Legion Auxiliary. She was also a member of the Good Grief Group where she made and enjoyed many dear friends. She was an avid reader and enjoyed crocheting, her plants, and her pets. Rosie loved to laugh and have fun.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Hope Creek for their compassionate care and kindness during Rosie's stay.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Maureen (Mo) and Bob Steinman and her son, Ron Maher, all of Moline. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; sister, Mary; brother, Frank; and infant son.
