Roy D. McClaskey, 89, of Colona, IL, died Wednesday, March 2, 2016, at Rosewood Care Center, Moline, IL.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 7, 2016, at Greenview Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 6, 2016, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline. Memorials may be made to Unity Point Hospice.
Roy was born on August 12, 1926, in Humphreys, MO, the son of Albert C. and Mae C. Altiser McClaskey. He married Phyllis L. Ogburn on August 26, 1950, in Rock Island, IL. He worked as a spray painter for International Harvester, retiring in 1980.
Roy was a die-hard St. Louis Cardinals fan and a member of the UAW. He loved flowers and enjoyed gardening with a special putty knife. Together, Roy and Phyllis wintered in Texas for 20 years.
Survivors include his loving wife, Phyllis; daughters, Rose (Tim) Camfield, Coal Valley, IL, and Barb (Mike) Welch, Fruitland, IA; granddaughter, Jennie Welch, Madisonville, TN; grandsons, J.J. (Heather) Welch, Powersville, MO, Justin (Amber) Welch, Columbia, SC, Kevin Camfield, Coal Valley, IL, and Keith Camfield, Coal Valley, IL; great grandchildren, Addy, Tate, Jeb, Halli, Jessica, Micaelyn, Christian, Connor, and Annalee.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 sisters, and 3 brothers.
