Ruby Graves Dorman

Ruby Graves Dorman, 89, of East Moline, IL, passed away on Saturday, July 8, at Rosewood Care Center, Moline. Esterdahls Mortuary Moline is in charge of arrangements.

A private graveside service will be conducted at Rock Island Arsenal.

Ruby was born on April 2, 1928, in Paducah, KY, to Anna and Pruitt Caldwell. She moved to East Moline at an early age and graduated from United Township High School. She moved to Rockford and worked for more than twenty years at H.U.D. She returned in the early nineties and later married Torris Dorman, whom she dated in high school. He preceded her in death on February 8, 2011.

Ruby was a longtime member of Gaines both in her youth, and as an adult.

She was at Rosewood since December 2015 and enjoyed the many friends and activities. Mercedes Molina (deceased) was a special friend and roommate for many months, and many thanks to the Molina family for their continued love and support. Survivors include her sisters, Charmaine Brodnax and Marilyn Chandler both of Rock Island, a brother Roland McCorkle(Clara), Milan and a special niece Rita Sterling, East Moline. She was preceded in death by parents, her husband Torris, sisters Barbaretta McCorkle and Joann McCorkle Kyle and a brother Robert McCorkle.
