Russell Scott, age 69, of East Moline, died Saturday, May 26, 2012 at St, Mary's Hospital at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline, IL. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, June 2, 2012 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Huntington, WV. There will be a Visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 1, 2012 at Klingel-Carpenter Mortuary, Huntington, WV. Burial will be at Rome Cemetery, Proctorville, OH. Memorials may be made to St. Joseph's Church in Huntington, WV or to St. Malachy Church, Geneseo, IL.
Russell was born on May 12, 1943 in Huntington, West Virginia the son of Jack W. and Anne R. (Russell) Scott. He married Nora Hager. He attended Marshall University and received his Bachelor's Degree in Journalism. Russell began working at The Herald-Dispatch in 1966 and continued working there until 1982. He then worked for the Moline Dispatch for 25 years, retiring in 2007. Russell wrote a nationally syndicated Poker Column called "Lucky Dog Poker" from 2005 until May 2012. He was a member of Moline Kiwanis and Rotary. Russell enjoyed golf very much.
