Ruth Louise Armstrong, 85, of East Moline, IL, died Friday, January 29, 2016, at Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, February 1, 2016, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, January 31, 2016, at the funeral home. Burial will be at National Cemetery at the Rock Island Arsenal. Memorials may be made to Wildwood Church.

Ruth was born on December 29, 1930, in Springfield, IL, the daughter of Ray and Martha Shannon Dunn. She married William E. Armstrong on July 15, 1950, in Springfield, IL, and he preceded her in death on May 24, 2006. She worked in sales for Sears and Osco.

Ruth enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was very social and never met a stranger. She was always full of energy, very supportive and loyal, and a very classy woman. Ruth loved to cook and her home was always immaculate. She enjoyed playing golf and was a member of Wildwood Church, where she was baptized in 1974. Above all, Ruth was a wonderful and loving caregiver for her husband Bill, who had Parkinson's Disease.

Survivors include her loving children, Craig Armstrong, Port Byron, IL, and Debra (William) Cain, Paradise Valley, AZ; grandchildren, Matthew Armstrong, Kyle (Autumn Ramirez) Armstrong, Ashley (James) Wilson, and Scott (Talia) Cain; sister, Lillian Coats; special friend, Peter Gust; 6 great grandchildren and 1 on the way.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter-in-law, Tamera; 4 siblings, Al, Susie, Jay, and Henny.
