Ruth Marie Foss, 88, of Moline, IL, died Thursday, March 24, 2016, at Bickford Cottage, Moline, IL.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 30, 2016, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 29, 2016, at the funeral home. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to Riverside United Methodist Church or to Christian Family Care Center in Rock Island.
Ruth was born on July 24, 1927, in Moline, IL, the daughter of Karl and Ethel Lucille Beckman Carlson. She married Ralph Roland on July 9, 1950, in Orion, IL, and he preceded her in death in November of 2010. She worked for Deere & Co. for 9 and a half years and later for the City of Moline for 14 years. She worked as a secretary of inspectors.
Ruth had been a member of Riverside United Methodist Church since 1953. She was a member of Joy Circle and taught Sunday school. For over 60 years she was a member of the Delta ETA Chapter of Sigma Phi Gamma. Ruth was past president of Woodrow Wilson Jr. High School PTA and was active in PTA at Roosevelt and Moline High School. She collected Isabel Blooms and enjoyed ceramics, playing cards, and socializing. Ruth never met a stranger.
Survivors include her children, David (Marilyn) Foss, Winfield, MO, Daniel (Mary) Foss, White Bear Lake, MN, Janet (David) Feuerbach, Moline, IL, and Mary (Gary) Carstens, Bloomington, IL; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; siblings, Rose (Jack) Dahlstrom, Ardis McKeever, Ansley (Joyce) Carlson, Byron Carlson, and Dennis (Kathy) Carlson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 60 years, Ralph, and two beloved cats, Snowball and Snookie.
The family would like to send a special thank you to Bickford Cottage for their wonderful care and compassion. Everyone at Bickford Cottage was very special to Ruth.
