Ruth LaJune (Gustafson) Thomson

Ruth LaJune (Gustafson) Thomson, 95, of Silvis, IL, passed away June 22, 2025, at MercyOne Genesis Silvis Medical Center.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until noon on Friday June 27, 2025, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline. Private burial will take place at the Rock Island National Cemetery.

Ruth was born on April 2, 1930, in Aledo, IL, the daughter of John Walfred and Anna Emilia (Erikson) Gustafson. She graduated from Moline High School. Ruth married John B. Thomson on October 24, 1953, at Salem Lutheran Church in Moline. She worked as a secretary at MidAmerican Energy Company in Moline, Rock Island Millwork Co., and co-owned Thrifty Rent-A-Car and Airport Road Rental with her husband. She was a member of the Orion United Methodist Church. Ruth adored her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and loved attending their sporting events. She enjoyed sewing, baking, and was a Girl Scout Leader for her daughters and taught Sunday school.

Survivors included her children Ann Bollmann, Bettendorf, IA, Jan (Art) Jackson, Lynn Center, IL, Bill (Debbie) Thomson, Melbourne, FL, Bob (Sandy) Thomson, Orion, IL, Jill (Nigel) Robins, Jean (Mike) Swab, Illinois City, IL; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren and expecting #15 in July; and many beloved cousins, nephews, nieces and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
