Phyllis Huntley, 89, of Orion, IL, died Tuesday, December 2, 2014, at UnityPoint Health - Trinity Rock Island, Rock Island, IL.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, December 8, 2014 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Orion. Visitation will be from 2-4 Sunday at Kirk, Huggins & Esterdahl Funeral home, Ltd., 1301-4th St., Orion. Burial will be at Swedona Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church or to Swedona Lutheran Church.
Phyllis was born on April 29, 1925, in Western Township, IL, the daughter of Anton and Elizabeth (Franzen) Swanson. She married Robert F. Mears on February 2, 1946, in Orion, and he preceded her in death on December 31, 1988. She then married Howard F. Swanson on September 22, 1989 in Nashua, IA. He preceded her in death on June 16, 2000. She later married Robert Huntley on December 27, 2003 in Orion.
Phyllis worked as a dental assistant in Dr. Kuttler's office and the John Deere Office in Moline. She was a former member of Swedona Lutheran Church for 36 years and served on the church board and taught Sunday school. She was currently a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church where she was active in WELCA and with the clover and carnation units. She enjoyed traveling to nursing homes with her church groups. She also loved dancing and fishing at Bear Trap, Wisconsin.
