Ruth Carolyn Roelens, of East Moline, passed away Friday, March 28, 2014 at home with her family at her side.

Funeral services are 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at Fifteenth Avenue Christian Church, 3600- 15th Avenue, Rock Island. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. 6601-38th Avenue, Moline. Burial is at Rose-Lawn Memorial Estate, Moline. Memorials may be made to Fifteenth Avenue Christian Church or to the Rock Island County Animal Shelter.

Ruth was born in Washington D.C. to Mollie and Robert Smith and married to Daniel Roelens in Washington, D.C.

Ruth worked as a bartender at Wells Fargo Lounge in Moline for 32 years. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family and friends. She especially looked forward to her trips to Lake of the Ozarks on Mother's Day and her birthday.. She was a member of Fifteenth Avenue Christian Church where she served as a deacon. Ruth was very excited about the new great grandchild that is due in a couple of weeks.

Survivors include her son Jerry Roelens, Harrisburg, PA; daughters Barbara Hansen (Al Willey) Rock Island, IL; Carole (John) Coykendall, Moline, IL and Patricia (David)) Grubbs, Edmund, OK; grandchildren Jeff (Christine) Coykendall, Atlanta, GA, Jennifer (Dave) Tertipes, Coal Valley, IL and Jamie (Tom) Johnson, Peoria IL; several great grandchildren and a great great grandchild; and a brother William (Carolyn) Smith, Cape Coral, FL..

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and her brother, Jack Smith.
