Saundra K. Allen - Edwards, 70 years young, of Moline passed away peacefully at home after a resilient battle of Breast Cancer, August 3rd, 2025.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30am on Saturday August 9th, 2025, at Tabernacle Baptist Church, Moline. Visitation will be from 4pm-7pm on Friday at Esterdhal Mortuary and Crematory Ltd., Moline. Cremation rites to follow services. Memorials may be made to the family.
Saundra affectionately known as "Sandi" was born on May 7th, 1955 at St. Anthony’s Hospital of Rock Island, IL., the third daughter of Joe and Helen Allen. She married and later separated the father of her three kids. Sandi graduated from the University of Iowa, obtaining her degree in Teaching and Early Childhood Development. Sandi's passion for teaching and love of children showed in her artistic creativity and work ethic focusing in the development of the preschool age, where she always stressed the importance of learning. In 2017 she retired from the Rock Island Arsenal Child Development Center, after 27 plus years of government civilian service.
Sandi was a faithful member of Tabernacle Baptist Church, where she dedicated service to the kitchen ministry, Hugs from Home ministry, and sung in the church choir forever. Sandi was a 17 year member of the Gospellettes singing group. She wrote short stories, songs, created awesome class bulletin boards, character birthday cards and enjoyed decorating tables for any occasion. She was also one of the Rock Island track club members for many years, and YES she could run.
Sandi K. was a beautiful child of God whose light touched everyone she met. Her strong-willed personality, faith, genuine and unwavering love left a lasting imprint on the hearts of many. She will be remembered not only for the warmth of her spirit but for the grace with which she walked through life and her journey with cancer. Though she may have departed this world, her legacy endures in the love she gave and the lives she enriched.
Survivors include her children who she wholeheartedly loved, Justin, Jordan and her favorite daughter Jessica. Loving Grandsons, Jalen Edwards and Jameson "Beau" Daniel. Her loving sisters, Stephanie Anders- Butcher, Susan Allen, and Sheila Richardson. A host of Nephews and Nieces, loved ones, family, and close friends.
She was proceeded in death by her parents who she dedicated most of retirement caring for Joe and Helen Allen. Her sister, Sheiron, brother Joseph "Jo-Jo", and nephew Christopher "C.J." Anders.
