Sheldon L. "Butch" McElyea

Sheldon L. "Butch" McElyea, 68, of Coal Valley died July 5, 2013 at Unity Point Health-Trinity Rock Island.

Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. 6601 38th Avenue, Moline. Visitation will be on Monday, July 8, 2013 from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Memorials may be made to the family.

Butch was born on May 18, 1945 in Springfield, Illinois, the son of Earl and Zelma Harmon McElyea. He married Connie Switzer on July 10, 1980 in Rock Island County.

Butch was a longtime diesel mechanic having worked with Midwest White GMC and Tollenaer Truck and Trailer Repair. He loved baseball and was an avid NASCAR fan always pulling for Tony Stewart. Above all, Butch's true love was spending time with his family.

Butch was preceded in death by his parents and his uncle Joseph McElyea.
