Sherman Earl Ziegenbein, 92, of Silvis, IL, died Thursday, December 10, 2015, at Illini Restorative Care, Silvis, IL.
Per his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded and burial of cremains will be at the National Cemetery at the Rock Island Arsenal at a later date. Memorials may be made to the church building fund at Faith Lutheran Church. Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Sherman was born on April 7, 1923, in Orchard, NE, the son of Earl and Myrtle Branen Ziegenbein. He married Marian Haggh in La Grange, IL, on January 21, 1946. He worked in sales for American Greetings.
Sherman was a veteran, having proudly served in the United States Army during WWII. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his loving wife, Marian; sons, Mark (Linda) Ziegenbein, Silvis, IL, and Richard (Sandy) Ziegenbein, Pahrump, NV; 3 grandchildren, Tyler Speir, Courtney Philbrook, and Ryan Ziegenbein.
He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Sharon Gammon.
