Shirley Frye, 83, of Colona, IL, went home to be with Lord on July 2, 2015, at UnityPoint Health - Trinity Rock Island, Rock Island, IL, seven weeks following open heart surgery.
Visitation will be Sunday, July 12th from 3-6 p.m. at Faith Walk World Outreach Center, 1450 Avenue of the Cities, Silvis, IL. The funeral is Monday, July 13th at 10:00 a.m., also at Faith Walk World Outreach Center, with internment at The Rock Island Arsenal. Memorials may be made to Christ Church of the Quad Cities. Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Shirley Mae Wiggers was born in Detroit, Michigan on May 31, 1932, the daughter of Violet Wiggers. She married Lowell A. Frye on June 5, 1949, in Rock Island, Illinois. She was a loving wife, devoted mother, doting grandmother/great grandmother, loyal friend and faithful servant of the Lord most recently in her home church, Christ Church of the Quad Cities. She was an incredibly talented artist and decorator, a music lover and a gifted cook. Her sense of humor made everyone smile and she never met a stranger. She loved to dance with her one and only partner, Lowell, the love of her life for 65 years, and to share times of fellowship with family and good friends.
Shirley is survived by her husband, Lowell Frye; daughters, Kathy (Hal) Hamilton of Pine Top, AZ, Jill (Richard) Meyer of Tuscon, AZ, Julie Hambleton of Davenport, IA; son, Russ (Vanessa) Frye of Moline, IL; 8 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren, Molly (Don) Lee and their daughters, Jamie and Samantha,
Emilee (Neal) Blackford and their daughter, Sophia, Adam (Allison) Frye and their daughter, Katelyn, Jonathan (Alethia) Frye, Alex Frye, Hannah Frye, Joel Frye, Daniel Madsen and his son, Cadyn; and her sister, Vicki (Larry) Witt of Davenport, IA.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Violet Childers, and her sister, Janet Wiggers.
