Shirley Ann Roxlau, 90, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2026, at her home in Erie, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 29, 2026, at Esterdahl Mortuary and Crematory, Ltd., Moline. Visitation will be one hour prior to services on Friday at the funeral home. Interment will be at the Rock Island National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family.

Born on August 22, 1935, in Moline, IL, Shirley lived a life rooted in faith, family, and love. On January 1, 1961, she married the love of her life, John “Jack” Roxlau, beginning a beautiful journey together built on devotion and family.

She was a strong and remarkable woman whose kindness, resilience, and love touched everyone who knew her. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. She cherished every moment shared with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, creating memories that will be treasured forever.

Shirley was blessed with 5 children, 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren with one on the way, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She also found peace and happiness outdoors, especially tending to her garden and caring for her flowers. Whether planting, nurturing blooms, or simply enjoying the beauty of nature. Shirley found joy in the simple gifts of life.

Shirley will be remembered as an amazing and strong woman whose love, faith, and unwavering dedication to her family left a lasting legacy. Though she will be deeply missed, the love she shared and the memories she created will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by 3 of her children, Terry (Roger) Nutt, Robert “Bob” (Marsha) Hayes, and Roxanne Humphreys; daughter-in-law, Penny Hayes; 13 grandchildren, Todd (Tanya) Vincent, Dustin (Kelly) Vincent, Anna (Aaron) Huffman, John (Kate) Hayes, Matt Hayes, Adam Hayes, Eric Hayes, Ryan (Gayle) Hayes, Nathan Humphreys, Ashley (Sean) Hughes, Josh Hayes, Tommy Hayes, Nikki Jo Hayes; 18 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Beverly Brown and Barb Stacey.

She is preceded in death by her husband, John “Jack” Roxlau; sons, Michael and Rick Hayes; brothers, Raymond, Roger, and Robert Bowles; parents, Warren and Eunice Bowles.
