Shirley Jean Turner

Shirley Jean Turner, 89, of Moline, passed away Thursday May 23, 2024, at UnityPoint Health Trinity Rock Island.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday May 28, 2024, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline.  Visitation will be one hour prior to services.  Burial will be at Moline Memorial Park.  Memorials may be made to Cornerstone Christian Fellowship.  

Shirley was born on September 26, 1934, in Moline, the daughter of Russell E. and Dorothy P. (Grigsby) Collier. She married Gerald T. Turner on April 1, 1955, in Moline. He preceded her in death on April 20, 1995. After completing her education at the former Moline Public Hospital School of Nursing, Shirley was employed at Dr. McDevitt’s Office and later at the former Rosewood Care Center, retiring in 1994. She was a member of the former Moline Gospel Temple and and was currently attending Cornerstone Christian Fellowship. Shirley enjoyed working on paint by number projects, crocheting Afghan blankets for her family members, and staying connected to family and friends on Facebook. She loved being with her grandchildren and giving praise to God for all he has done.

Survivors include her children, Rick Turner, Moline, Tim (Jennifer) Turner, Moline, Dr. Shari Turner (Mike) McKee, Fort Myers, FL, Jeanne (David) Jefferson of Fort Myers, FL; bonus daughter, Kathy (Terry) Larrison; grandchildren, Jessica (Brandon) Herrick, Bellevue, Nebraska, Jarrin Turner, Colona, IL, Kaylen Turner, Hillsboro, IL, Jeremy (Bonnie) Turner, Sherrard, Daniel (Laura) Milburn, Bettendorf, Zachary Thorpe, Florida, Megan (Alex) Keeler, Orlando, FL, Bryant (Brittany) Thorpe, Winter Park, FL, Brianna Turner, Moline; many great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gerald; and granddaughter, Christine Marie Turner.
