Stephen Chelstrom, 62, of Orion, IL, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, July 1, 2015, in Lac du Flambeau, WI.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 1001 - 9th Street, Orion, IL. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at the church. Burial will be at Lutheran Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Disabled American Veterans or Wounded Warriors.
Stephen was born on November 25, 1952, in Moline, IL, the son of Robert and Marjorie Mellgren Chelstrom.
He married Rita Sievert on June 30, 1979 in Orion, IL.
Stephen was retired after teaching in the Orion School District for 34 years. He founded and directed the Environmental Education program for over 25 years. He was a life member of the IEA/NEA and also was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Orion. Stephen was also a member of the Independent Order of Vikings - Thor Lodge #9 and of the Henry County Farm Bureau. He enjoyed woodworking, being at the lake in Wisconsin, and especially spending time with his family.
